NIACUS ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 29/10/24

NIACUS held its AGM in Stormont Pavilion this week with a good attendance from our Umpires and Scorers.

Our Chairman, Brian Patterson, welcomed the members and then held a minute silence to reflect on those of our NIACUS family who had passed this year.

The Proceedings opened with several reports from our Treasurer, Training Officer and NCU representative. Paul Black gave a report on his day at the Ireland v Sri Lanka Ladies International at Stormont. Paul had been awarded the Trevor Henry Bursary and this involved him shadowing the officials at this match. He thanked the Committee for the opportunity which he found very enjoyable and enlightening.

Mark Hawthorne gave a very comprehensive report on NIACUS representation in Cricket Ireland this year. This include both Umpires and Scorers featuring prominently throughout the season. The highlight being four of our officials taking part in the first TEST Match in Northern Ireland. Mark's report shows the major roll NIACUS personnel played in Cricket Ireland fixtures.

Our Honorary Secretary and Chairman delivered their reports on the past year.

This was followed by the official business of re-affirming Bob Kane as our President. He then invited nominations for the Executive Committee. The positions were all re-elected with the addition of Paul Black to the committee Executive Committee Members shown under Officers on Website.

Two awards are given on the night. Firstly, our Appointments Secretary, Ian Houston, nominates an Umpire who has made significant progress in his/her early career. This year's award went to Richard Wiseman.

The second award is the George Archer Cup which is for service to NIACUS. This is the Chairman's choice and this year the recipient was Alex Adams.
